Words You Might Not Know That Are Used in Family Court

The whole Court process is very foreign to most people. Just like a foreign language, words are used in Court that make no sense to people. I am hoping that these simple explanations will provider greater insight and understanding about what is actually happening in Court.

  • Brief Focus Assessment
  • Community Waste
  • Custody Evaluation
  • Donna’s House
  • Mediation
  • QDRO (Qualified Domestic Relations Order)
  • Parallel Parenting
  • Pathogenic Parenting
  • Senior Judge Settlement Conference
  • Judicial Settlement Conference

Although you may now have a greater understanding about what just happened in Court, there is another way to get information. You may not know it, but all cases in Family Court are video recorded. You can go to the courthouse and visit Transcript Video Services where for a fee you can purchase a copy of the video from your hearing.

With the assistance of one of the attorneys at Roberts Stoffel Family Law Group, we will help answer your questions and explain the best course of action based on your unique facts.  No question is a “dumb question” and this is important so the attorney – client relationship is a good one.
