Education and Work Experience
Kristine C. Bernhardt was born and raised in Northern New Jersey. She received her undergraduate degree, in Behavioral Science, from Concordia College in Bronxville, NY. Kristine then relocated to Las Vegas where she obtained an Associate Degree, in Paralegal Studies, from the College of Southern Nevada. Kristine worked as a Paralegal for The Grimes Law Office before relocating to Portland, Oregon to attend law school at Lewis & Clark.
Kristine obtained her Juris Doctor, with certificates in Animal Law and Criminal Law, then continued her legal education and obtained an LL.M. in Animal Law. While at Lewis & Clark, Kristine participated in moot court, mock trial, and the Animal Law Clinic. She also served as a peer mentor, as Treasurer for the Lewis & Clark Animal Legal Defense Fund Chapter, and as the LL.M. Representative for the Lewis & Clark Student Bar Association. Additionally, Kristine was a recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship for Excellence and the Animal Law Leadership Award Scholarship.
After completing her education at Lewis & Clark, Kristine returned to Las Vegas and returned to work at The Grimes Law Office as a Law Clerk. Upon passing the Nevada State Bar and being sworn in as an attorney, Kristine was promoted to an Associate Attorney at Grimes Law. Kristine has worked primarily in Family Law and has worked on cases involving divorce, custody, alimony, child support, and division of community assets and debts.
Personal Interests
Kristine is passionate about Animal Rights and Animal Welfare and has written many academic papers on the topics. Kristine’s love of animals is further evidenced in her personal life as she has volunteered with a variety of animal rescues and animal rights/welfare organizations. Kristine often fosters animals through local rescues and has a plethora of her own pets at home.
