The consultation is free of charge. During the consultation, an attorney will provide you with the basic information relevant to the area of law pertaining to your matter and answer questions. The goal is for potential clients to leave the consultation feeling confident in the attorneys of Roberts Stoffel Family Law Group, understanding the law related to their specific issues, and having the answers to their questions.
Roberts Stoffel Family Law Group is a family owned and operated law firm. The firm partners, Amanda M. Roberts and Jason P. Stoffel, are a husband and wife team of attorneys who both have substantial experience handling family law matters. Amanda and Jason understand the importance of family and how issues involving family members need special attention and one-on-one attention. As such, Roberts Stoffel Family Law Group provides clients with personalized attention to address the most challenging times in their lives.
The firm focuses its practice on family law including, but not limited to, the following: divorce, paternity, annulment, child custody, child support, temporary protection orders, termination of parental rights, adoption (including private adoptions), name changes (minor and adult), guardianships, and third party visitation rights (including grandparent rights). By focusing its practice areas on family law, Roberts Stoffel Family Law Group is able to provide clients with a knowledge base which is superior to general practice law firms. Additionally, as we have substantial experience, we at Roberts Stoffel Family Law Group have earned the respect of members of the Nevada Courts.
The emotion involved in family law related issues is something that not every attorney or their staff has the experience necessary to effectively assist clients. When deciding on an attorney, clients should make sure the attorney representing them knows the ins and outs of family law issues including the referencing resources to assist clients in a full-service capacity. At Roberts Stoffel Family Law Group, the attorneys have made family law their passion which means knowing not only the law and Clark County Court system but being able to provide clients with a wide array of references to assist them through this difficult transition. Becoming a client of Roberts Stoffel Family Law Group means having access to the reference tools it has taken years for the attorneys to build.
The attorneys of Roberts Stoffel Family Law Group practice primarily in Clark County, Nevada. Both Amanda and Jason have worked in other counties in Nevada but most of their cases are those handled in Las Vegas. Currently, family law cases in Clark County are divided between eighteen (18) Judges located in two (2) separate courthouses. The majority of Judges are located at Family Court located at 601 North Pecos Road, Las Vegas, Nevada. There are three (3) Judges with courtrooms located at the Regional Justice Center located at 200 Lewis Avenue in downtown Las Vegas. Due to the large volume of cases handled by the Clark County Courts, parking is sometimes an issue at both courthouses which means anyone appearing for a hearing should leave sufficient time to find parking and get through security.
Although our attorneys practice primarily in Las Vegas, many of Roberts Stoffel Family Law Group clients live outside of the State of Nevada. Most of the communication with out of state clients is conducted via the telephone and email. In some cases, clients are not even required to come to Las Vegas for hearings. One question you may ask yourself: why would someone living outside of the State of Nevada need an attorney in Las Vegas? The answer to that question is because jurisdiction lies in the State of Nevada. If you have jurisdictional questions, click here and you will be able to learn more about this topic and others related to family law. However, a free consultation will answer your specific questions tailored to your situation.

Some clients have a simple, uncontested matter. Uncontested matters are those in which everyone involved is in agreement with the terms and willing to execute the necessary legal documents to finalize the matter. In uncontested family law matters, Roberts Stoffel Family Law Group offer flat fee representation ranging from $500.00 to $1,750.00, plus filing fees. Flat fees are earned upon receipt so, it is important to ensure that the matter is truly uncontested.
Contested matters are mostly handled on a retainer fee basis. A retainer is a sum of money, determined based upon a consultation, which is paid by the client up-front. The retainer is placed into a client trust account and billed against on a monthly basis. The retainer is refundable which means whatever portion of the retainer is not used at the conclusion of the matter is refunded to the client at the end of the next billing cycle. The amount of the retainer is determined at the initial consultation. Some things which are considered when determining the amount to quote for the initial retainer include the following: type of case, complexity, and timing.
What can you do to keep the attorney fees manageable? Roberts Stoffel Family Law Group suggests considering some of the following options, which may be discussed in greater depth upon retaining:
- Mediation;
- Settlement Conference (private or Senior Judge);
- Settlement Offers;
- Narrowing the Issues;
- Grouping and Gathering;
- Maximizing Time; and
- Email.
Probably the most valuable tip that can be given to clients is leave detailed messages. Regardless of whether you are leaving a message with staff or via voicemail, make sure to give your name and the best way to contact you (either a telephone number or email). Another tip, whenever your contact information changes make sure to notify Roberts Stoffel Family Law Group.
Mediation is an important tool in family law cases. Mediation generally saves time and money. Moreover, Mediation does not preclude the matter to be litigated in Court if necessary. Mediation is a confidential process where issues are resolved outside the courtroom between the Parties and in the presence of a trained Mediator such as Attorney Jason P. Stoffel. Roberts Stoffel Family Law Group is also a business member of the Mediators of Southern Nevada and Attorney Stoffel currently serves on the Board of Directors of this organization and is also the immediate past president.
Traditionally, mediation occurs after the initial paperwork is drafted. However, Roberts Stoffel Family Law Group can also mediate cases whereas the attorney serves as a mediator to resolve legal issues before any documents are filed with the Court.
